TRIBUTE TO A GREAT
CHINESE MEDICAL PRACTITIONER
(By her husband Dr. Frederick Lee)
In memories of Dr. Winnie H. Tiao
(1950 - 2010)
DR. WINNIE H. TIAO, B.Sc, M.S, O.M.D, L.Ac (State of California Licensed Acupuncturist/herbalist) NCCAOM. (National Commission for the Certification of Acupunture and Oriental Medicine)
This is a Special Tribute to my ever beloved wife Dr. Winnie H. Tiao who was called to rest by the Good Lord on the 27th November, 2010. When you left me, "Lao Mei" ("Old Sister") for another dimension, you left me with full of tears; more than half my life left me. I was left without my soul, my inspiration, my strength! You were my everything, my "Lao Mei".
I long for the Day when you and I shall be together again. Not only will I miss you very dearly but each and every of your patients from Northbridge, California, San Pablo, and Doncaster in England will miss you very dearly.
Your acupuncture and herbal skills were almost second to none. I remembered very vividly how your needles had saved the life of a young Chinese lady in Northridge, California diagnosed with stage two breast cancer! If that lady had known you had left, she would cry her heart out! In San Pablo, Califomia, your acupuncture had helped many other patients with diabetics and other chronic ailments; none of these patient know you had already left us for a more peaceful Dimension so near, yet so far away!
In Doncaster, England you had also helped many others, too numerous to mention. With the Chinese community, you had served as their translator/interpreter and always generously given your time to them without charge. At the Academy of Oriental Medicine in Harold Wood, Essex where you were senior lecturer in Acupuncture and herbs, each and every of your students would miss you dearly.
From the bottom of my heart, my "Lao Mei", thank you for giving me all the comfort and happiness for the past 29 years. You had looked after me very well. I miss all the dinners that you had cooked for me all these years, the Sunday "Dim Sum" that we used to have together, I miss all the "Korean" jokes that only you were able to appreciate. I miss going to the gym together. You had always put my interests and welfare in front of your own; unknown to me, you had always been very proud of me.
Sure, we always had our fair share of arguments, quarrels, fights but that was because deep inside us, we both cared for one another very intensely. Without care, concern and love, there would be no disagreements!
Most of all, I miss you in clinic. Unknown to me, you were the better doctor. You were able to spot small little things that I was unaware of. Yet you were so humble and never once ever challenge me or let me know that you know more than I do. You were so very hardworking and so very frugal. When times were bad, you took a part time job as a telephonist in take away restaurants to help me out. I have now learned a lot from you.
As a result of your frugality, I have learnt to be very thrifty and have begun to watch the pennies. I have also learned to control my temper and that silence is golden.
My life without you will never be the same but I shall be brave and to continue with my mission to help other people with chronic
ailments until it is time for me to rejoin you. Please wait for me and I shall be there before long! I have sworn and pledged never to remarry again or to enter into any forms of relationship; this is because not only that I wanted to maintain the marital bond in this life and also to connect with you in
the next but I know deep inside my heart that I could never find a woman who would love me in the same way as you had loved me.
May you be Very Happy and Protected by God and All His Angels and His Saints. Till we meet again! Please give me the strength and the courage
to continue living without you.
